Official Visit to Italy of Mr. Li Yong, UNIDO Director General
On October 22nd 2013, I was pleased to welcome in Italy UNIDO’s new Director General Li Yong and to having myself and my Office supported him during a fruitful day of meetings with H.E. the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Emma Bonino, and with key private sector and financial players, amongst which ABI (Italian Banking Association), Barilla, Confindustria (Confederation of Italian industries), ENI (Ente Nazionale Idrocarbonico), FIAT, Ipackima, and Novamont.
It was a pleasure to stand by the DG during the introduction of his new Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) vision and to receive confirmation from H.E. Minister Bonino that Italy’s relationship with UNIDO is well-established and that she sees an important role for UNIDO in helping developing countries adding value to their own resources and create local jobs and in turn also generate opportunities for Italian companies.
During this occasion, I further confirmed my commitment and that of my Office to work for a brighter and greener industrial future for the UNIDO support needing countries and I was pleased to see once again UNIDO ITPO Italy strengthening ties with UNIDO HQs and contributing with a strong support to Mr. Li Yong.
